Aspiring Leaders is a practice-based program designed for working educators who aspire to lead urban schools.


THE ASPIRING LEADERS JOURNEY

Aspiring Leaders earn their M.Ed in Educational Leadership with an Urban School Specialization from Southern Methodist University at the end of their first two years and receive ongoing support from Teaching Trust in years three through five. 

Summer Intensive

Participate in a three week long Summer Intensive at the start of your first year, typically in the month of June

YEAR 1

Take a new course on a select topic every 7 weeks to build leadership skills & competencies

Collaborate with fellow cohort members in classes at Southern Methodist University

Remain in your current role on campus

YEAR 2

Participate in a Summer Intensive at the start of your second year to get a head start on your coursework

Take on a leadership role at a partner campus for your Residency year

Receive on-the-job coaching & support from a former urban school leader

Earn your M.Ed. in Urban School Leadership and your Principal Certification

YEARS 3 - 5

Receive ongoing development & support tailored to your individual needs as a leader

Apply for school leadership positions at the time that is right for you

CONTINUE YOUR IMPACT

Your journey as a Teaching Trust leader is not over at the end of your Aspiring Leaders commitment. Cohort members and graduates of Teaching Trust programs have access to high-quality, applicable leadership development and training from our Teaching Trust Alumni Network. 

Continue to connect, collaborate, and innovate with peers and colleagues through the Alumni Network. Your journey towards improving outcomes for North Texas students is just beginning.
